As a landscape designer with a background in ecology and equity work, Laura has a passion for spaces that write humans and the environment into the same story. From habitat research to youth outreach, her diverse experiences help her see the potential of landscape as places that can facilitate environmental and social goals in tandem. Her culminating Design/Build project in the University of Washington’s Landscape Architecture program focused on integrating Seattle’s historic Ballard neighborhood with the wildlife of the Lake Washington Ship Canal. The resulting 11th Ave NW Shoreline Street End Park weaves habitat structures with Scandinavian-influenced community spaces. Laura’s recent work experience includes wildlife conservation and zoological parks, transportation projects, public parks and large-scale master plans.
