With a background in ecology, design, and environmental philosophy, Shawn has an interest in the application of landscape architecture to environmental issues with a focus on didactic landscapes and ecological infrastructure. Shawn is dedicated to generating solutions that reduce human impacts on the environment and create a stronger bond between natural systems and culture. Shawn’s recent work on civic places includes the development of flexible and accessible spaces for many Washington State projects including Seattle Public Libraries University Branch Accessibility Renovation, Mount Vernon Library Commons, Tukwila Fire Stations 51 and 52, Bellevue Fire Station 10, and Tukwila Justice Center. Through this work, Shawn has demonstrated an aptitude for facilitating stakeholder collaboration and public engagement, and a commitment to finding sustainable site solutions that honor the past while leaning into the future. Shawn has managed teams on both the Sound Transit Federal Way Link Extension and Everett Link Extension projects, applying his collaboration and problem-solving skills to deliver effective solutions as a vital member of multidisciplinary teams.
